ZB Couture | Bridal Custom Gown, Meet Zahra Batool

About Zahra Batool Couture

ZB Couture features hand-painted, made-to-order gowns for bridal and formal occasions. Each gown offers timeless and classic beauty through Zahra’s intricately hand-painted motifs on luxury fabrics of the highest quality.

How a ZB Couture Gown is Made

Every ZB Couture gown starts with a concept inspired by nature. Zahra designs her floral motifs and then works for 30—40 hours rendering the motifs onto her fabric using the finest fabric paints and pencils.

After the fabric has been carefully pressed to set the paint, the seamstress works by hand and machine for 1-2 weeks, stitching the gown together until the fine details and the beauty of the gown’s silhouette are complete.

ZB Couture Dresses Made with Sustainability in Mind

Natural Fabrics

Each ZB Couture gown is made with high-end luxury fabric that is made from natural fibers. And the vast majority of the fabric we use is silk.

Minimal Waste Fashion

While we strive for Zero Waste in making our custom dresses, we believe that we have achieved minimal waste. In cutting the fabric, we always plan the layout to minimize waste. Any waste that is created in the making of one dress is refashioned into other items, or used to test design concepts and swatch paints for future projects.

In addition, because our dresses are not the plain white normally associated with wedding dresses, we find that our bridal clients can continue to wear the dress at other events. Most brides never wear their wedding dress again. But the classic silhouettes we use to create a ZB Couture wedding dress never go out of style, and are appropriate for many special occasions – after all they are truly couture !!!!

Paper packaging

We ship our product in paper packaging and use minimal plastic designed to protect the product from damage in transport.

Ethically Produced In the USA

Our dresses are ethically produced in the US. Our seamstresses work in a favorable environment that meets US regulatory standards and they are appropriately compensated for their skilled work.

Size Inclusive Couture Gowns

We believe that natural beauty comes in all sizes. Because of this, we design gowns in a broad range of women sizes from 0 to 20.

About Zahra Batool

Long before she became a Master Designer, decades before she was the founder and CEO of ZB Couture, Zahra Batool was just another little girl with big dreams and even bigger talent. Growing up in Pakistan, there was nothing that made Zahra happier than a box full of crayons or a few bottles of paint. As a result, she spent hour upon hour creating beautiful pictures and fantasizing about becoming a real artist when she grew up.

As a teen, she applied and was accepted to the prestigious National College of Arts and Lahore in Pakistan, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Textile Design. It was there that she began to fuse her artistic abilities with textiles. But Zahra wanted something more. She wanted to take her beautifully painted works and bring them to life, transforming them from single dimension fabrics to living, breathing 3D pieces.

In 2008, Zahra moved to New York for post-graduate study at the famed Fashion Institute of Technology. It was there that she began to fuse her printed fabrics with elegant dress forms. And it was there that she realized her dream of bringing her artwork to life, watching as her creations danced and swirled on fashion runways. Zahra has had an inspiring nine-year career designing prints for leading international textile companies and is currently working with luxury retailer, Neiman Marcus as an event live artist.

ZB Couture

But Zahra wanted more — more creative freedom, more challenges. So, in 2018 she launched ZB Couture and in 2019 she created her very first collection:

Symphony of Rose

Each gown in her debut collection is inspired by the natural and symbolic beauty of the rose. Considered a sacred flower and a symbol of love and beauty, the rose is reflected in each gown’s expression of colors, textures, and hand-painted motifs and since each one is individually crafted, no two are exactly alike.

With ZB Couture, Zahra embraced her passion for designing formal and bridal dresses for women who appreciate art and are not content to go unnoticed. Every dress is a hand-painted romance on fabric – moving, flowing, serving as a testament to the blossoming of new love. Each dress is a physical representation of the love that Zahra infuses into every one of her hand-crafted couture designs.

Because she understands and has mastered silk’s unique and natural ability to drink in hand-painted color in such distinctive ways, Zahra works almost exclusively with luxurious silk fabrics — perfectly controlling the colors and the brushstrokes to create designs that are most pleasing to the eye.

Luxury Fashion from ZB Couture

Because every woman is unique, each design is custom made. Every dress silhouette and hand-painted design results in a couture gown that enhances and complements the wearer. And because Zahra’s designs are timeless, her gowns are designed to be worn again and again.

Since her debut, Zahra has participated in many New York & New Jersey fashion events, trunk shows, and styled shoots. She has also successfully collaborated with Bergdorf Goodman and Pildora. Her work has been featured in Bibi & Tatler magazines.

When she is not creating her custom design creations, Zahra can most often be found spending time with her family, practicing yoga, or painting in her studio.

All this from a little girl who dreamed of becoming an artist.
